Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are internationally renowned certified legendary guitar players, and their newest music venture of forming the SatchVai Band only highlights their musical prowess. Their most recent tour around Europe was met with high praise and even higher demand for a much larger tour, so the duo have decided to invite their fans to come Surfing With The Hydra! From April to May, the guitarists and fellow Satchvai Band members will be performing 40 well-awaited shows, and one of the shows will be here at the Fox Theater - Oakland on Saturday, 4th April 2026! The announcement is a welcome surprise to all music fans, and even Satriani did not foresee the immediate success of their band launch, sharing, “Then all of a sudden we just start writing and recording, and there you go. It just sort of snowballed from, ‘Wouldn't it be great if you had a second track? How about an album?’ And we thought, Wow, I guess it's here. It has arrived.”

Joe Satriani and Steve Vai’s unbreakable bond has resulted in a music sensation: the creation of the SatchVai Band in 2024. The two iconic guitarists share more than 50 years of shared passion, ambition, and creative genius that has allowed them to both earn 15 Grammy Award nominations, with Vai taking home three Grammy Award wins. Now, they are joined by guitarist Pete Thorn, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and bassist Marco Mendoza. The idea of the band catapulted after the two went on a tour with fellow guitarist and Grammy Award winner Eric Johnson. Because Johnson was already fully booked, the two decided to head on their own tour, which was so warmly received by various audiences and critics. Joe Satriani is very enthusiastic about this upcoming tour, telling fans that “The SATCHVAI Band rides again! After a fantastic European tour last summer Steve, Kenny, Marco, Pete and I will bring the Surfing With The Hydra Tour to the US. We can’t wait to play you the new material from our forthcoming SatchVai album along with your favorite songs from our shared catalog… You do not want to miss this show with this lineup!”

Animals As Leaders

Experimental metal and instrumental progressive band Animals As Leaders are joining the waves of the Surfing With The Hydra Tour! The band has four albums and are particularly popular in the djent scene. Their guitarist Javier Reyes has shared that they envision their music as something that stands out to its listeners, saying, “I just want to blow people’s minds and leave them speechless, so they want to share the record.”
