Fox Theater
With their blend of reworked synthpop and original material, The Midnight will perform at Oakland’s legendary Fox Theater on Thursday, May 14th, 2026 as part of their Time Machines Tour.
This Austin duo consists of Tyler Lyle and Tim McEwan. They make swaying dream pop songs that totally remind us of the 80's - just perfect for sweeping you off your feet and whisking you off to another land. Portland dream pop band New Constellations kicks off the night playing their catchy, hazy songs to get the crowd in the mood with songs like “Believe Again” and the fun birthday anthem “Hot Blooded” (the birthday of New Constellations bassist, no less).

The Time Machines Tour launches in late spring and includes over 25 dates across the country, including stops in Charlotte, Washington D.C., Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Toronto, Grand Rapids, Saint Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Vancouver, Portland and Los Angeles.
We sit down with Tyler Lyle of The Midnight, a synthwave duo composed of friends Tyler and Tim McEwan. Their song catalog features tracks like “Los Angeles”, “Sunset”, “Vampires”, and “Gloria”, all of which are heavy hitters. Featuring electronic elements and genuine personal stories, the songs are designed to elicit a strong physical and emotional response from their listeners.
The duo recently released The Syndicate Earth Variant Double LP, marking the evolution of their work since the founding of The Midnight in 2012. Their music is influenced by a wave of 1980s pop culture and is sure to be a treat for die-hard fans of the retrowave scene.
As support for headliners, New Constellations brings their own brand of dream pop and synthwave sounds to the stage. A Portland-based duo featuring Harlee Case and Josh Smith, with additional keyboard work by Kyle Farook, create beautiful and inspired musical dreamscapes to enhance the evening. The duo will be playing some of their most requested tracks including "Believe Again", "Hot Blooded", "Think it Over", and "Waterslides" - all played LIVE!
This marks the release of the duo's 2026 debut album It Comes in Waves. Enjoy the fun and exciting sounds of up-and-coming musicians, bringing a long time friendship to the stage. Their synth pop sounds and space inspired views will take you to a beautiful place.
The Fox Theater is located in Oakland, CA at 1807 Telegraph Avenue. This historic theater was opened in 1928 and restoration began in 2008 to return the Fox Theater to its original glory. The project involved a renovation of the theater, lobby, mezzanine lobby and exterior façade. The Fox Theater features a world-class Meyer sound system and has a seating capacity for 2,800 people in two configurations, General Admission on the floor and balcony seating. Food and drink will be available for purchase at all performances. The Den Food + Drink menu will feature creative dishes including many options for the vegetarian and vegan crowd. The Fox Theater has a variety of options for our patrons. An agreement with the 1800 SAN PABLO LOT (one block from the Fox) for a flat rate of $20 per vehicle from 5PM-1AM. The Franklin Plaza Garage is also available at a flat rate of $25 per vehicle from 5PM-1AM. For our patrons taking public transit, the 19th Street BART station is only a short block away. There are plenty of street parking throughout Oakland as well as a number of parking lots.
